ROADSIDE VENDORS & THEIR PROBLEMS

I am delighted to place first edition of the book entitled “Roadside Vendors & Their Problems” in the hands of researchers and students. This book covers the role of roadside vendors to the economic development of the country as a chunk of population depends on them for their livelihood.  They act as provider of bread and butter to the working population in metropolitan cities.  But they are covered under unorganized sector and deprived of many privileges.  The author has studied the various problems faced by these roadside vendors in their day-to-day operations.  He has also provided solutions to overcome the problems faced by these vendors.

This is a case study of Hukkeri taluk in Belagavi district.  The author has tried his best to study the problems of roadside vendors in that particular region.  This is part of UGC minor research project. I take this opportunity with great pride and privilege to express heartily my deep sense of gratitude to the authorities of UGC for sanctioning the project.  I extend my gratitude to Shri A. B. Patil Former Minister and President S. D. V. S. Sangh and members of Board of Management for encouraging me to undertake this project.  I also express my gratitude to Principal, my colleagues, teaching and non-teaching staff of our college for their timely support.

My sincere thanks go to all the academicians and the contributors of articles.  I am greatly indebted to Dr. S. G. Kulkarni Retired Principal of KLS Gogte College of Commerce, Belagavi who has sowed the seed of this project title. I profusely thank all roadside vendors and the associated Non-Government Organizations concerned with this Endeavour.
