A Saga of Unsung Heroes of Indian Freedom Movement from Uttar Purba Bharat (North East India)

This volume is the outcome of a National Seminar coordinated by me whereas organized by Bharatiya Itihas Sankalan Samiti, Assam in association with M. B. B. University, Agartala (Tripura) and Assam University Diphu Campus with the theme, “Revisiting Indian Freedom Movement: A Saga of Unsung Heroes of Uttar Purba Bharat” to commemorate 75 years of Indian Independence which is coined as Azadika Amrit Mahotsav.

This book aims to look at rewriting the history of this great event of Indian Freedom Movement and involvement of North East India (Uttar Purba Bharat), encompassing all the unsung heroes and unheard events and places as much as traceable and present before our country a real
and comprehensive history of Indian freedom struggle. Initially, I am thankful to Prof. Satyadeo Poddar, Vice Chancellor, M. B. B. University, Agartala for accepting my request to become one of the academic partner of the seminar and also delivered a lecture being expert on history of the region. In the same line I must be thankful to Prof. Sivasish Biswas, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Assam University Diphu Campus to be one of the academic collaborators for the seminar. I must
thankful to Prof. Naorem Lokendra Singh, Vice Chancellor, Manipur University who kindly agreed to deliver inaugural lecture of the seminar. I extend my sincere thanks to Dr. Balmukund Pandey, National Organising Secretary, Akhil Bharatiya Itihas Sankalan Yojana, New Delhi who kindly agreed to become the chief gust and delivered a lecture on the theme. I must remember and thank Dr. Joram Begi, Former, Chief Information Commissioner, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh
for his continuous support, encouragement and participation in the Seminar. I am also thankful to Dr. Om Jee Upadhaya, Director, ICHR for his participation.
