MEMOIRS OF A MEDICAL PRACTITIONER

978-1-68576-061-8 PAPER BACK FIRST EDITION , ,

Meet The Author

I have been a medical practitioner for almost six decades, having worked in various sectors of the profession during my time as an active practitioner. I have also been a Government Officer, an anesthetist, and a freelance anesthetist. Over the course of my career, I have come across numerous cases, met scores of people, and I pray, have done some good by them. I have taken it upon myself to present some of the cases that have stayed with me throughout these years, for the general welfare and perusal of those who are reading. The period of these narrations is from 1965 to 1985, after this memorable run I was concentrating on my anesthesia practice specifically. Back in the day, medicine wasn’t as advanced as we see it now, there were no scan facilities, no improved tests or machines to help with our diagnoses. We had x-rays and simple blood tests only. Doctors highly de- pended on their clinical acumen. I’d like to mention some brilliant doctors from my time; Dr. P. M. Baskaran M.S. made an excellent diagnosis of cavernous sinus thrombosis a rare condition but with fatal complications purely through his trusted judgment and Dr. R. Mohan provided us with the best success in sensitive surgeries with such excellent, delicate hands. Then there was Dr. R. Ravindran who actually saved my foot once when it got infected and Dr. Velmurugan M.D, a man of futuristic views and my anesthetist’s colleagues Dr. Padmanaban, Dr. David and Dr. T. R. Somasundaram.
