Fundamentals of Nursing: Clinical Procedure Manual

It gives me immense pleasure to write the book titled “Fundamentals of Nursing: Clinical Procedure Manual” to meet the learning requirements of Nursing students in India as well as Overseas. The primary objective of this book is to prepare competent nurses to meet the challenging situations of Nursing, since it is prepared according to the old and revised curriculum of Indian Nursing Council as well as the syllabus adopted by various Universities Overseas. The nursing students will find it as a “textbook” for learning nursing procedures. This procedure manual contains thirteen units written in simple language, pointwise and each procedure is illustrated with realistic colored pictures wherever needed. The unique feature of this procedure manual is inclusion of OSCE checklists for all the procedures which is attached at the end of the chapters. The students would find it useful for learning the procedures step-by-step without omitting any steps which will enhance patient safety when they start practicing those procedures during their clinical postings. Further, the nursing faculty would find it useful for teaching their students as well as evaluating the students’ hands-on-skill during their formative and summative clinical or practical exams.

Moreover, the present day practicing nurses also find this book as a ready reference source for better understanding of basic and advanced medical and surgical nursing procedures in the wards. This book will also bring a uniform standard of the nursing education in India. It will be much appreciated, if readers send their criticism, suggestions and corrections, if any, for further improvement of this book.
