Psychology is one of the subject were its requirement is there in every aspect of our life. It is not only related to the mind and behaviour it plays a significant role in the life of each and every individual. Knowledge of psychology helps the person to deal effectively and efficiently with everyday life.

Physiotherapy and Occupational therapies are few of the main health vocations involved in rehabilitation, rehabilitation for the physically, emotionally, and mentally disabled and challenged people serving patients to take an on the go part in their return to function. The role of the physiotherapist/occupational therapist is made more challenging when patients’ expectations, and those of their medical cares, are markedly lower than those of the physiotherapist/occupational therapist; it is also harder when patients interpret all their symptoms and difficulties as indicators of significant pathology. Understanding the concepts of cognitive processes, personality, motivation, emotion, intelligence, attitudes, normal and abnormal behaviour, mental disorders, intellectual disabilities etc. are equally essential for the physiotherapist/occupational therapist to deal with the patients in an effective manner.

A meek disease model links severity of pathology with severity of a patient’s symptoms, complaints and disability this problem is compounded if other ‘pathogenic’ factors – emotional or personality-based are suggested to account for inconsistencies between pathology and ill health .The patient may be called as presenting ‘functional overlay’, hypochondriasis, or even psychogenic pain. Since personality traits are by definition fixed, the advantage of the label is that it lets the therapist off the knob; it’s the patient’s fault. Nonetheless whatever we predict about ‘personality’, people’s behaviour is variable, not fixed. Whatever matters in the therapeutic background, thus, is patients’ behaviour, which in turn is associated to their opinions and to the therapist’s behaviour.
