ECOLOGY AND MANAGEMENT OF APHIS GOSSYPII GLOVER ON OKRA AND BRINJAL IN MANIPUR

The colored edition of the book ‘Bio-ecology and management of Aphis gossypii Glover on Okra and Brinjal in Manipur’ is the outcome of the research work of the author. The main motive for the publication of this book remained to provide relevant ideas for the bio-ecology and management of insect pest to the researchers. Aphis gossypii Glover which attacks the okra and brinjal is a major pest. This is widely distributed in India, South East Asia, America, tropical Africa, Europe and Australia. This is highly polyphagus and attacks about 500 host plants in India. Okra is one of the important vegetable crops grown from seeds in tropical and subtropical parts of the world. It is also a major component in the crop husbandry of India. Aphis gossypii is one of the major pests of okra and brinjal. Based on the economic importance of this pest, a detailed study on the ecology and behaviour of the pest is essential for developing the integrated control of the pest.
