DEFENCE SERVICES AS A CAREER

Research is always being used in enhancing knowledge about educational theory and practice. Several programmes, decisions and policies are framed keeping in view the insights provided by the researches.

The book is a humble attempt to present to the policy makers, Defence personnel, school principals, teachers, and counsellors a reference book in the area of Defence services as a career. Eminent educationists, research guides and researchers will also find it quite useful in various ways.

Career choice is considered as one of the major areas of concern for young generation nearing the end of their schooling. A career in the Defence services has always had a place of dignity and respect amongst the society; it is mostly treated as an adventurous and respectable career option by the young generation. A career in Defence services entails weighing the benefits and challenges and consulting elders, who have served in Defence services. Assessing different information that would help in choosing Defence as a career choice, some keep on taking it as a career and some doesn’t prefer to choose it as their career option.

Keeping in view the need to identify and analyse the various factors that affect a student’s career choice with reference to Defence services, this book has been prepared. This book is written in a comprehensive, simple and systematic manner.

The book is primarily intended to serve as a reference book for the Principals, teachers and counsellors of higher secondary schools and the Defence personnel and the policy makers, therefore, every attempt has been made to make the book useful for them.

As NEP 2020, also emphasizes on aspiring the students for a successful career in Defence forces by encouraging the State Govts to open NCC wings in their secondary & higher secondary schools under the aegis of Ministry of Defence to enable harnessing the unique potential of the students.
