AGRO ECO ZONES IN NORTHERN KERALA

The present book engages in the exploration, identification & characterization of various livestock rearing systems & agricultural linkages in district wise agro ecological zones of northern Kerala”,  A project was under taken in the year 2012 with technical and financial help from the planning board.  The study included identification of rearing systems, analyzing various problems and levels of technology adoption of scientific management practices, diseases and its nature of emergence. This book will help in preparing, planning and developing future activities for the district in animal husbandry with better planning and implementation of various developmental programmes in this sector which will cater the needs of farmers, officials and public.

I extend my sincere thanks to the officials, veterinary surgeons and livestock farmers who helped us to contribute points as per the schedule presented for identifying the cattle, goat, buffalo and other animal rearing patterns. Let this document pave way for betterment of northern zone of Kerala and we will work together for a self sufficient and sustainable animal farming environment in Kerala and to improve the socio economic condition of livestock farmers.
