Women and child health is an essential issue that needs to be addressed in India. Poor maternal and child health, inadequate nutrition, and a lack of access to healthcare services have been the major health challenges in the country.

India can ensure that all women and children have access to the care and support they need to lead healthy, fulfilling lives. We have gone into particular detail for those programmes and policies with its objects and requirements not well covered elsewhere. This book offers the chapters on Concepts of Welfare programmes and schemes for the children, adolescents, Women in their all stages of lives.

This book aims to highlight women and child welfare programmes and schemes in India. These programs enhanced the social, economic condition of children and women. We built this book around the sources given by National Health Mission, Ministry of Women and Child Development, Central and State level Government in the field of Women and Child Welfare in India.

Welfare is not a matter of charity but of right and it is a responsibility of the state to its citizens. Non-utilization or underutilization of the schemes is either due to lack of awareness or poor accessibility. Our aim in writing this text book is to describe in outline, and to set into context, all the important programmes and schemes regarding the women and child welfare in India to promote the knowledge of health professionals and to create the awareness, accessibility and utilization among the public through health education.
