It gives me immense pleasure to introduce the first edition of the textbook, ‘Surgical and Prosthetic Rehabilitation of the Oral Cancer Patient’. This book is a product of the immense hard work and sacrifice put in by the authors during the last 13 years from 2008-2021. Working on the manuscript, the only idea that came was to publish this as a book which would guide the present practicing clinicians and the future generations to come.
This vision was materialized with the help of IIP publishers, Chikmangaluru, Karnataka. Publishing could never get better with such an amazing support staff.
Oral Cancer Rehabilitation is as difficult a phase for the patient as the disease itself. The best results come with multi-disciplinary treatment which involves the Onco-Surgeon, Medical Oncologist, Psychiatrist, Speech Therapist, Prosthodontist, Occupational therapist besides others. It’s like a relay event where the team wins if the baton has been passed on timely. Delayed diagnosis of Oral Cancer is the main cause of the high mortality rate associated with it.
This book is an attempt to bring about a store of information for the reader about the diagnosis and management of Oral Carcinoma besides generating general awareness about the disease itself.
