Alhamdulillah religion was a significant part of my family life. In the early college year, I learnt that Judaism, Christianity and Islam have common roots. This brought me to study this concept further and then I got a chance to deliver a lecture in college on the topic “Concept of God in Major Religion”. I never thought that after 15 years of that lecture I was to do my PhD on a similar topic.
There is ample literature available which compared the three religions. The latest writings on semitic religion had much more information on the discoveries like the Dead Sea Scroll which intrigued me. Books by Karen Armstrong assisted in creating a framework to my thesis. While doing my research on this topic I was apprehensive that I would not be able to add more information to what was already written on the topic. But there was so much more still left to write even after completion of the thesis. I am looking forward to work more towards decoding the Dead Sea Scrolls and enriching my research.
My research aims to bring all the three faiths on a common doctrine keeping their differences aside. The support from my family, friends and my mentor Dr. Masood Jamali truly helped me achieve the completion of the book. Being a mother of a toddler and changing city to do my research also caused financial and emotional difficulties. But then the grace of Allah, I was able to complete the study as a full time PhD fellow. It took three years to move forward with the publication of my book. I hope this book would help readers to receive the true and correct information to bring people together.
