Our body is visible and felt by touch. Our mind though invisible is felt by its functions like thinking, emotions. There is one more element called SOUL (Athma). We Hindus believe in the existence of Soul from even pre-vedic period. Athma is the inner-spirit CHETANA influencing our body and mind, Body is compared to Chariot. Thinking is one wheel, emotions form the other wheel. Manas is the driver or
Sarathi. Buddi is the controller of movements of the chariot. Buddi (Cognition) decide the goal and the path, right or wrong, understands the obstacles and plans to avoid or remove them. Buddi also decides about the behaviour, taking into consideration of realities of the environment, needs and desires of the Mind plus social demands. When we are alive mind becomes the spoke-person of Athma. One can say the guiding spirit of our actions and reactions is the mind which is suppressed by the Athma. Many concepts are popular and used in day today affairs. Athma Thrupthi (self-satisfaction), Athma vishwasa (confident), Athma Sthyrya (boldness), Athma saakshi (evidence), Athmaavalokana (insight) Athma Hathya (suicide), Antharathma (inner feelings), Athma and Mind look like Two faces of the coin when we are alive but what happens to Athma After Death.?
