Meet The Author

With the knowledge and expertise gathered from two decades of practice in Clinical Physiotherapy, I present through this work, a well researched study of Manual Therapy Techniques with emphasis on the need for personalized approaches in physiotherapy treatments. The intention of this book is to provide detailed information and discuss effects, evolvements and determinants of effective Physiotherapy.

As the founder member of Federation of Indian Manual Therapists, I have chaired and attended numerous conferences, workshops and have coached the Techniques of Manual Therapy to more than 10,000 physiotherapists. I also had the opportunity to attend a four week program on manual concepts at the Curtin University of South Australia.

The research data published in the book refers to the Third International Conference on Movement Dysfunction ICMD2020.

Through this book, I have tried to sketch a roadmap which navigates the reader through the history of manual therapy, its associated literature and the recent developments in this field. In this context, I have also tracked the different musculoskeletal conditions and relevant treatment procedures including the McConnell Taping Technique and Neural Mobilizations through clinical reasoning. This book reflects the process of emergence of manual therapy practices and its effectiveness.

The intention here is also to present the salient features of Manual Therapy like Clinical Research, Diagnostics, Therapeutic Practices and Scientific Assessments.

Browsing the available data of previously existing research material on manual therapy, it seems mostly derived from theoretical studies and anecdotes, based on patho-anatomy. Whereas, the recent studies tend to utilize generic techniques and perspectives with wide descriptions of manual therapy and classify patients into clinically relevant subgroups. The book also presents a study about peripheral and spine joint manipulation with clinical reasoning. The editorial mission of Manual Therapy Research is to have in-depth coverage on functional disability and the factors associated with it, involving patients with musculoskeletal disorders in multiple clinical settings.

The stress here is on the importance of health care demand for evidence-based exercise of manual therapy.  I have Cited instances where biomechanics and appropriate communication between the therapist and patient facilitate a 360 degree view of issues and its significance in crisis resolution. The agenda of my work is to develop and sustain the standards in practice and research of manual therapy and provide platform to present analytical assessment of findings to teachers, healthcare experts and students in the mission to improve the patient’s health.

The book is an opportune venture for professional companies, scientists, readers and publishers in manual therapy to alleviate suffering, advance well-being and improve care. The book’s focus on manual therapy continues as a notable tool in the physiotherapy field.

In its mission, manual therapy book hopes to convey scientific findings that enhance understanding all aspects of manual therapy discipline.
