The constructive and adaptable behaviors that people use to lead successful and easy lives are known as life skills. There is a disconnect in the current environment between what is taught in the classroom and what is needed in the actual world. Life skills Education is a new motto in teacher education that is integrated into the teacher education curriculum at secondary level. The development and enhancement of young people’s personalities is essential to a nation’s progress and growth. The fundamental objective of life skills is to enable children to participate in and effectively navigate life’s problems. UNICEF defines life skills as “a behavior change or behavior development approach designed to address a balance of three areas: knowledge, attitude, and skills”. The knowledge, skills, and attitudes of teachers in fostering pupils’ critical thinking fall into a favorable category. School children’s ability to develop critical thinking skills is based on the knowledge, skills, and attitudes of their teachers. As professionals, educators need to be well-versed in the critical thinking skills required by today’s curricula. It is still necessary to reexamine how these knowledge, skills, and attitudes might be applied during the learning process. The knowledge, skills, and attitudes of instructors in the area of critical thinking development, which will serve as the foundation for integrating learning into schools. With the aid of life skill education, teachers may help students make easy decisions about what to do, when to do it, and how to do it by imparting to them the knowledge, attitude, and values necessary to handle real-world circumstances. This was an additional strategy for holistic self-determination. In order to make well-informed decisions, solve problems, think critically and creatively, communicate effectively, form wholesome relationships, empathize with others, and deal with managing their lives in a healthy and productive way, the students need life skills, which include psychosocial competencies and interpersonal skills. Education on life skills is essential for raising awareness and giving people direction and advice. It gives individuals the capacity to make better decisions, skills that support mental health, and the ability to deal with life’s challenges. The prospective teachers who receive life skills education will be able to resolve conflicts, understand their rights, and increase their sense of self-worth and confidence. Today’s youth are seeing a quick shift in the social, moral, and religious values that surround them due to the hectic pace of life and the emergence of technology. Adolescent stress is exacerbated by the effects of a small-nuclear family structure and a curriculum that emphasizes cognitive skills. Thus, integrating life skills into the curriculum and teaching at the school level can be a good place to start when raising a young adult who is emotionally and cognitively well. A learner cannot acquire real life skills unless they are taught by a knowledgeable and experienced teacher. So there is an urgent need to give life skill education to prospective teachers. Additionally, the stakeholders in teacher education, teacher educators, and aspiring teachers can all benefit from using this material.
