Nestled within the scenic expanse of Palnadu District, Andhra Pradesh, Kondaveedu Fort serves as more than just a historical landmark; it is a living testament to the rich tapestry of flora and the invaluable traditional knowledge of the local communities. In this volume, we embark on a journey to unravel the botanical treasures and ethnomedicinal practices that thrive within this ancient bastion.
At the heart of our exploration lies the awe-inspiring diversity of plant life that adorns the landscapes of Kondaveedu Fort. Through meticulous documentation and scientific inquiry, we endeavor to shed light on the myriad species that call this region home, from towering trees to delicate wildflowers. Each plant, with its unique characteristics and ecological significance, contributes to the vibrant ecosystem that sustains life within the fort’s environs.
In the present study, systematic enumeration (chapter-iv) a total of 555 plant taxa were recorded from Kondaveedu Fort, Palnadu District, Andhra Pradesh. Of the 555 taxa, 22 are cultivated or planted in different parts of the study area and the remaining are wild and naturalized. These 555 wild and naturalized taxa belong to 333 genera and 87 families, the latter taxa identified following APG IV Classification and detailed Ethno medicinal important Information provided. Of the 555 taxa are identified through 800 herbarium specimens made in the present study based on published records; of the latter.
