This study is penned, aiming at the development of the Scheduled Caste. Itis said, “Those who wish to sing, always have a song”. I am of the opinionthat this book gives some hope of making progress.
The right to education, though enshrined in our Constitution, sinceIndependence, has not reached a large section of the population. As the saying goes, “water, water everywhere, but no drops to drink”, so is the fact that, the DALITS as the marginalized Scheduled Castes are called, are unable to enroll due to various socio-economic reasons, though there are several higher education centers. In many feudalistic areas they are treated as mere production machines. The minimal education they have been allowed over the years has not freed them from the clutches of suppression. The Dalit suffer this vice in many areas.
