Breast milk is a god gift for the new born baby. But busy life, rat race for survival, modern lifestyle, beauty consciousness and also some myth regarding breast feeding has forced the today’s neonates to enjoy a hard plastic feeding bottle instead of a soft, affectionate and emotional attached soft breast. These alternative feedings also deprive the baby from many immunological factors that are responsible for many disorders in the childhood and also later stage of life. All alternate baby foods can maintain the nutritional requirements of the baby but it is immunologically insufficient for the baby. Secondly all the babies are not similar in respect of health, digestion capacity, feeding requirements. Hence only the mother’s milk is suitable for her neonate in all respect.
In this book effort has been made to make aware about breast milk among the public. Nowadays many books regarding this are available. In the present work emphasis has been given to focus a light on the points on breast feeding described in the ancient system of Indian medicine-Ayurveda. And also explained where controversies regarding breast feeding arise between the modern and Indian system of medicine.
We do hope this may be helpful to the modern parents and the adolescent girls to overrule their misconceptions regarding breast feeding. It is also helpful for the medical and nursing students to enhance their knowledge and also in personal life.
