Meet The Author

We are delighted to present “Biomolecules and Bioactive Compounds: Applications for Health and Environmental Sustainability” with great respect, gratitude, and affection towards scientific community. This book contents offer comprehensive reviews on current research in the ever-evolving field of biomolecular sciences, their diverse understanding and applications. Our main motive is to provide readers a clear understanding of the biomolecules and bioactive compounds, strongly for their mode of action, therapeutic importance, and their key role in promoting environmentally sustainable solutions to today’s global challenges.

As a review-based volume, this book does more than simply present individual research findings. Each book chapter thoughtfully examines existing knowledge, expressed critically, and has highlighted important research gaps and emerging directions towards problem solving. The chapters explore various biomolecules, including gene sequences, enzymes, peptides, and secondary metabolites, and discuss their roles in areas such as medicine, antimicrobial applications, food processing, plant and human diagnostics, metabolism, biotechnology, and ecofriendly technologies. Each chapter is supported by recent scientific evidence and reflects the interdisciplinary nature of this field.

Central themes of this book are based upon close connection between human health and environmental sustainability. Today’s world is facing serious environmental issues such as antimicrobial resistance, notorious diseases, environmental damage, and other human-driven challenges, biomolecules offer promising and sustainable alternatives to synthetic approaches. This book explores how biomolecular research is contributing to important areas such as drug discovery, nutraceutical development, green chemistry, waste conversion, and bioremediation. By bringing together information that is often scattered across different sources, we hope this book provides a meaningful and accessible reference for researchers, academicians, and research students in scientific disciplines.

This book holds special meaning for all of us, as this is being edited by our dear mentor, Professor Swati Ajay Peshwe, who has guided each of us during our Ph.D. journey. Dr Swati is well known by her students and microbiology community for her professional mannerism, her passion towards teaching and deep commitment towards research with scientific vigour, pursuit of knowledge and energetic execution of research. Under her mentorship, we learned to think with intellectual curiosity, patience, and ethical integrity, and learned to understand research question in analytical, creative and systematic way to drive research attitude with scientific zest. The spirit of careful research, interdisciplinary thinking, and social relevance reflected in this book is deeply inspired by her guidance.

On her superannuation, we are honoured to dedicate this book to her as small token of our respect and gratitude. Her mentorship has shaped our research that attributes high values as a scientists and educators. This book connects biomolecular science with human health and environmental responsibility; reflects the vision she has instilled in us throughout our academic journey.

We sincerely hope that this book will serve as an elemental guidebook and an asset for researchers, academicians, postgraduate students, and professionals in life sciences, biotechnology, pharmaceutical sciences, and environmental studies. It is our heartfelt wish that this work will inspire further research, encourage collaboration, and contribute to meaningful and sustainable scientific progress.
