Science and Technology is playing dominant role in showcasing the developmental aspects of the countries. India is also making notable progress in the field of S&T. Both challenges and hope lie ahead for India. Inspite of enviable progress in several fields, many do not consider S&T as benign. The unexpected aversion of few families to S&T can be reversed only by a sound and credible ways of public communication among families. Explaining scientific facts in simple language and in convincing manner is difficult, but necessary. Certain sections of society, because lack of scientific education, tend to interpret what they see around them based on their limited knowledge or what is explained to them by those whom they trust. Sometimes because of reasons which are difficult to fathom they even ignore what perhaps should be obvious to them. Continuous efforts are needed to convince them. Having worked in Nuclear sector (Ambitious and complex technologies), we cannot ignore the importance of public communication in any field. Families are practically smallest ‘Anu of the country& society’ where effective change can be brought out.
My family was fortunate enough to come across the premier academic institutions and scientific organisations of the country during life journey and pursuits.
During my career, spreading over more than three decades, fortunate enough to work upon the development of first time technologies required for the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) of the country. Some of the technologies were developed and demonstrated. Some are demonstrated and deployed also. Anu-Smera is a book of compilation at one corner; the abstracts of the various activities carried out and published articles. Hope this gives bird view of the R&D in specific areas for the benefit of friends and families. Also by reading this book may help to answer myths around the ‘nuclear energy is boon or curse’ in the service of society.
