A COMPREHENSIVE GUIDE TO MAMMALS OF JAMMU AND KASHMIR

One of India’s most gorgeous and beautiful landscape Jammu & Kashmir also holds stunningly beautiful wildlife reserves. People have been captivated by the Jammu and Kashmir for centuries because of its breathtaking beauty, which in- cludes mighty mountains covered in snow, meadows, forests, rivers, and wildlife. The biodiversity of Jammu and Kashmir has drawn the interest of many academics now a day, but still a pool of literature is available. Centuries of resource exploitation has endangered the biodiversity of the region, which calls for the systematic conservation planning.

This book “A comprehensive guide to the Mammal of Jammu and Kashmir” is an effort towards building a knowledge-based field guide of the current mammalian diversity. The outcome in the form of book comprises of 92 species of mammals under 8 orders and 22 families. This publication also consolidates information on the species ecology and threats according to the IUCN.
