Chemical Kinetics is the most significant part of Chemistry, which is utilized by the scientists to determine the optimal conditions and variables required to speed up the reaction time of certain reactions. Chemical Kinetics is an experimentally determined area of chemistry where the theoretical considerations alone, cannot determine the rate expression by just considering the chemicals involved. By changing the conditions of an experiment, the speed of a reaction can be altered. Chemical Kinetics is used to study these conditions and how they affect the rate of reactions.Kinetic study is an expanding field of research in chemistry. Synthetic methodology, as the building block of organic synthesis, continuously seeks for new reagents, better reaction conditions and more efficient and selective methods. In this regard, a large group of compounds entitled N-halo reagents are widely used in fine organic synthesis. N-halo compounds have been used as an oxidant for the oxidation of organic compounds. There is a continued interest in the development of new N-halo compounds for the effective and selective oxidation of several organic substrates . In this book entitled “ A Compilation of Research Works in Chemical Kinetics – Volume 1”, research works done by the authors on the kinetic study of oxidation of various organic compounds by N-halo reagents have been compiled and presented. Mechanistic aspects have also been dealt with. This will pave way for the academicians and research scholars to come up with more and more N-halo reagents, which opens a new herald in synthetic organic chemistry. The future scope lies in the kinetic studies of oxidation of chemical compounds using such N-halo reagents. Biological activities of N-halo compounds can also be studied and the utility of N-halo compounds can also be extended to Nanosciences. I hope this compilation of research works in Chemical kinetics will help the researchers to carry it forward in a fruitful manner.
