NEONATAL AND PEDIATRIC PROCEDURE

This educational resource reflects current practices to ensure best practices and quality care to provide for Neonates & for young child. This new edition represents our beliefs in developing competency among nurses and nursing students. Our goal for this text is to provide guidelines for nurses to excel in the child care by doing clinical procedures effectively and skilfully. The textbook focuses exclusively on procedures and is not meant to be a comprehensive textbook of the paediatric disease conditions. Rather, the aim is to provide a clinically useful, accessible guide to perform the procedure with systematic instructions in easy-to-use manner.

This manual is designed for student nurses and beginning practitioners with the essential data needed to perform nursing procedures in an effective way. It contains the theory and skills necessary to perform the procedure in a systematic way. The checklist approach, used in this textbook, aims to provide standardized processes for clinical skills and to help nursing school and clinical practice partners keep procedural practice current. Procedure skills can be most effectively mastered by using the OSCE checklist. The student is not expected to outgrow the text but to continue to use it as a valuable reference in clinical practice. Each skill procedure is covered a brief overview of the relevant theory, checklists of steps for procedures and a summary of key takeaways.
