An Introduction to Basic Fourier Series

This book is a result of my lecture notes during my twelve years of
teaching this important topic in Mathematical Physics. Fourier Series
is an important topic not just for students opting Mathematics or
Physics in their under-graduate level of studies in all colleges in
India, but its applications in Engineering and Computer Applications
is overwhelming. This work addresses the basic topics in Fourier
series, emphasizing the concept of approximate identities and
presenting applications. The book open up with basic topics on
Periodic functions, even and odd functions and the meaning of
orthogonality functions so that the readers do not lose tracks when the
main topic on Fourier series is introduced. The different forms of
Fourier series and its applications are discussed. The problems in the
Exercises will help the students to understand more on the topics
discussed.
This book can be used by a variety of students. Mathematics students
and Physics students at undergraduate level should be able to follow
most of the discussion.
